Reading progress update: I've read 40%.
Definitely not one of her best. Reminds a little bit of Great Expectations though too with a rich old man (not a woman) dangling marriage and money with his son in front of a young woman that he sees as being a replacement for her lost mother. Opal Jessica (known as Jessica) is not that smart and I am getting a bit tired of the dialogue/information dumps that are going on.
